CBR Unit

The Association is the first voluntary organization in Karnataka
to initiate the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Project for the rural disabled in Karnataka.
Disabled persons of all categories and age groups are provided services from identification and medical intervention to economic rehabilitation according to their age socio, economic, background and their aptitude.
Presently, the Association is operating 3 CBR Units in Vijayapura, Devanahalli Taluk, Bangalore rural district, and Nagamangala, a remote Taluk in Mandya district and Mandya
The major activities of the CBR project are:
- Free hostel for disabled children
- Integrated education for disabled children
- Orientation and mobility training for the visually-impaired
- Communication and skill development for hearing and speech-impaired children
- Vocational training
- Self-employment
- Open employment
- Prevention and cure of disability
- Community awareness creation
- Community development
Currently, 60 children are receiving free hostel services, 117 children are receiving education under
Integrated Education for the Disabled(I.E.D), above 50 disabled person are receiving vocational training, 75 to 100 are helped for self employment, over 400 persons are helped for special aids and appliances through the CBR units, annually.
