The KWAB'S New Venture

Sushikshana Saadana – A means to a high profile education. The KWAB has adopted a new strategy for continuing the education of the visually challenged children from 8th Standard which commenced from 2006 academic year. The new strategy or project is entitled as "Sushikshana Saadana Project" complies with the Inclusive Education Policy for the differently abled persons the Government of India.

Accordingly, The KWAB launched the Sushikshana Saadana an Education Project to provide for the education of the visually challenged, hearing & speech impaired, orthopedically handicapped & mild mentally retarded children along with non-disabled children from below the poverty line. Admission is providing to the above groups of children every Academic year. Commences from June each year & so also from June 2010. This integrated High School but with a difference is aimed at providing high profile education to the students of the proposed Integrated High School.

Knowledge through the Satellite Based Education Programme,which has been initiated in Karnataka. Class-rooms laboratories, resource rooms, study rooms and the library will have Internet Facility with suitable Speaking Software so that the visually challenged can have easy access to information and knowledge as much as his/her counter parts other differently abled and non disabled inmates. Special aids, appliances and machinery will also be provided to cater to the special needs of the different categories of the differently abled children. A barrier free and fully accessible environment will be created to provide easy access to every disabled person. In addition to formal education from 8th std. to 12th std. with one additional class each year, the Sushikshana Saadana aims at providing full fledge training in arts like classical and light vocal and instrumental music, dance, dramatics, painting and drawing and handicrafts that every child can develop his/her talent into a high profile skill along with academic education which will facilitate easy choice of his/her carrier at providing opportunities particularly for the visually challenged and hearing & speech impaired to take up and excel in Science, Mathematics, Geography, Music, Dance etc., so that visually challenged child can aspire to take up medicine, Engineering, Science for higher education and a hearing & speech impaired child can also aspire to become a dancer, a Choreographer or even a Music composer which are hither to considered less practicable and impossible in either case.

For the purpose of providing a high profile education, the Association has planned to provide the educational infrastructure with an Information Technology base, so that the students can have access to the most modern form and means of acquiring Information and Knowledge including information and The Sushikshana Saadana also provides scope for experimenting approaches and developing strategy for successful main streaming of the differently abled persons for their education and skills development which can become a model for others to emulate within and outside Karnataka, as the Sushikshana Saadana -Education Project is expected to be the first of its kind

The first phase of the implementation of the project is expected to cost as follows: -

Note: The building apart from the quarters includes spacious varanda of 6’ width.

Operational Cost will be expected to Rs. 50 to 55 lacs in the first year with an intake capacity of 120 students

The association depends on public contribution the sponsors/donors shall have the following advantages:
  1. Any corporate body, organization or funding agency meeting the cost of the project – capital and operational: The project shall be run entirely in their name and they shall play a pivotal role in the implementation and development of the project.
  2. Those organisations, corporate bodies or funding agencies who shall meet part of the cost of the project capital or operational a specified activity of the project shall be operated in their name and their representative shall play a vital role in implementation and development of the project.
  3. Any organisations extending Rs. 5 Lakhs and above one of the Blocks/ Class Rooms/Hostels/Quarters/Resource Centers etc. will be named after the sponsor.
  4. Any Philanthropic individual/Organization donating Rs. One Lakh and above, one of the Rooms will be named after the respective sponsor.
  5. Any Individual / Organization donating towards the cost of the any type of equipment, furniture or transport will be reflected in the designated premises.
  6. Every contribution will be duly acknowledged and reflected.
  7. All donations to the Association are exempted from Income Tax Act of 1961 under section 80 G
  8. The Association is also permitted to receive Foreign aid under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India (FCRA) Act.
Every Rupee is worth much when given for a noble cause has the education of the disabled, deprived and down trodden.
